Chracteristics of Leaders I Follow
Working alongside some of the top coaches and at the highest levels, Matt will share some of the characteristics and behaviors of top leaders he has encountered on his journey through the youth soccer world.
National Staff Instructor, United States Soccer Federation
Technical Director (E. Wash.), Washington Youth Soccer
Matt graduated from Moscow High School and Whitman College. Following college he moved to Portland and started his youth soccer coaching career, which took him to Colorado, Virginia, and back to Oregon before moving to Lewiston just over a year ago.
During his career Matt has coached at every level in youth soccer short of the Youth National Teams, for whom he served as a player scout and oversaw the scouting network in the Pacific Northwest. Matt has held various leadership positions in youth soccer clubs and state associations and currently serves as the Technical Director for Washington Youth Soccer and a National Staff Instructor for US Soccer.
Prior to moving to Idaho, Matt worked for US Soccer as a Technical Advisor with the responsibility of working with the top clubs in the region to develop top-level teams and future professional and national team players.
Matt has also coached Division I Women’s soccer at Portland State University, who won 2 Big Sky Championships in his three years as an assistant coach.
